Exciting news for GPU enthusiasts! According to highly reliable leakers, NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 graphics cards are set to bring significant power upgrades. The RTX 5090 is rumored to feature a thermal design power (TDP) of 575W, while the RTX 5080 is expected to have a TDP of 360W.
RTX 5090: The Powerhouse
The RTX 5090 is said to be equipped with NVIDIA’s flagship GB202 GPU, boasting 21,760 CUDA cores and 32GB of GDDR7 memory across a 512-bit memory interface. This makes it the first GeForce model to exceed 20,000 cores. With a TDP of 575W, it requires significantly more power than its predecessor, the RTX 4090, which had a TDP of 450W.
RTX 5080: The Efficient Performer
On the other hand, the RTX 5080 is rumored to feature the GB203 GPU with 10,752 CUDA cores and 16GB of GDDR7 memory. Despite being less powerful than the RTX 5090, it still offers a notable increase in power consumption compared to the RTX 4080, with a TDP of 360W2.
What to Expect
Both cards are expected to support PCIe 5.0 and DisplayPort 2.1a, representing some of the most significant updates since the Ada Lovelace generation. However, there doesn’t appear to be substantial technological upgrades from the previous generation, with marketing materials highlighting similar features.
Pricing and Release Date
NVIDIA is set to announce pricing next week, and the RTX 5090 still has no confirmed release date. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the official announcement!
